In 1943, Matron Beryl Hill returned from missionary service in the Himalayan Mountains with a calling to establish a place of medical and spiritual care for vulnerable community members. Committed to this calling, she developed a partnership with a local church, Subiaco Church of Christ, who shared her passion for helping the vulnerable. With the church’s support, a small community Hospital with 14 beds was established in Subiaco – it was later renamed ‘Bethesda’ and relocated to Claremont. Today, the community spirit and sense of purpose has remained with those who are associated with Bethesda. We are a modern, vibrant healthcare community, with a reputation for exceptional quality and personalised care. Mission Vision Create an environment of unity and togetherness. Recognise and acknowledge the uniqueness and value of every individual. Demonstrate honesty and trust. Work to express God’s love through a caring expression of kindness, tolerance, and tenderness. Excel in all that we do, so that we can promote our mission. Have pride in the high-level care and service we offer. The care received by the patient was excellent (she could be rather demanding at times!). The family was very lucky she could spend her last days at Bethesda. Even the dog was welcome — more important than family!” Always a part of the community
